This vintage Rosenthal Bavaria Chippendale covered tureen combines white porcelain, scattered floral bouquets and decorative gold detailing. Its rounded bowl, scalloped contours and domed lid create a balanced silhouette with gently curved edges.
The supplied dating is circa 1945–1955, treated here as an approximate attribution rather than a confirmed production period. The photographed base carries a green Rosenthal Bavaria mark with the Chippendale name.
Scalloped Form and Scrolled Handles
Two scrolled porcelain handles extend from the bowl, with gold accents highlighting their curves. A low foot raises the body slightly, while a narrow gold line defines the base.
The removable lid follows the bowl’s scalloped outline. A shaped opening accommodates a ladle, and a sculptural loop finial completes the dome.
The photographs show the tureen both assembled and with its lid removed. These views reveal the plain white interior and the underside of the cover.
Scattered Floral Decoration
Small bouquets appear across the body and lid, leaving generous areas of white porcelain between them. Pink roses sit beside blue and yellow flowers, accompanied by green foliage.
Smaller floral sprigs vary the scale of the decoration. Their scattered placement gives the surface a light appearance rather than creating a continuous band.
The floral colours contrast with the warmer gold details. Together, they offer a decorative combination suited to a porcelain collection or a traditional sideboard display.
Radiating Gold Lid Ornament
A radiating gold fan-like design surrounds the base of the finial. Repeated elongated shapes form a decorative ring across the upper dome.
Fine gold edging follows the lid rim and ladle opening. Further accents appear on the handles and foot, linking the separate parts visually.
Maker’s Mark and Condition
The underside is marked “Rosenthal — Bavaria — CHIPPENDALE”, beneath a crown and crossed-rose device. A close-up photograph records the mark and surrounding foot ring.
Excellent vintage condition is reported, with no chips, cracks, crazing or staining disclosed. The photographs show bright floral decoration and reflective gold detailing.
Light marks or discolouration are visible around portions of the underside foot ring. The interior photograph also shows small specks; their nature cannot be determined from the image.
