About This Piece
This vintage porcelain shell dish combines sculptural white moulding with a delicate flowering branch. Pink rose-like blossoms, tiny blue flowers and green leaves sweep across the interior in an asymmetric arrangement.
Attributed to French production from the early-to-mid 20th century, the dish measures approximately 26 × 21 cm. Its gently raised sides and low foot give the floral decoration a shallow, framed setting.
A Sculptural Shell Form
Radiating ribs travel across the white surface toward a broad scalloped edge. Their raised contours catch the light, adding texture to the undecorated areas.
The outline alternates between rounded lobes and deeper curves, echoing the shape of a shell. A smoother raised section at one end contrasts with the more strongly ribbed surface.
Low-angle photographs show the curved profile and supporting foot. These views reveal the moulded form beyond the overhead floral composition.
Pink Blossoms and Blue Flowers
A slender brown branch curves along one side of the interior, carrying open pink blossoms, buds and green leaves. Yellow centres and deeper pink shading distinguish the larger flowers.
Small blue forget-me-not-like flowers appear on fine stems around the main branch. Their scale and cooler colour provide a delicate contrast to the pink blooms.
The decoration leaves much of the ribbed white ground visible. This open arrangement allows the floral design and shell relief to remain equally important.
Maker and Period Attribution
No printed factory name is visible in the supplied underside photograph. A small curved moulded or impressed feature appears near the centre, but it does not establish a maker.
The dish is therefore offered without a Limoges or other factory attribution. The supplied circa-1900–1950 date remains approximate, and the decoration method has not been independently confirmed.
Condition
Good to very good vintage condition is reported, with no chips, cracks or crazing disclosed. The photographs show bright floral colours and clearly defined shell moulding.
A small dark speck is visible near the underside foot ring. It is described in the supplied details as a firing inclusion, although its nature cannot be confirmed photographically.
Please review all views for rim edges, glaze appearance, foot condition and minor surface marks.
