Schubert Songs for Low Voice and Piano
This vintage Edition Peters volume presents Franz Schubert’s Lieder for low voice with piano accompaniment. Band II is identified on the cover as “Ausgabe für tiefe Stimme”. The title page names Max Friedlaender as the editor.
The music is printed with German vocal text above the piano accompaniment. The photographed opening includes “Meeres Stille”, with its voice and piano parts arranged together. Other photographed spreads show further pages of engraved musical notation.
This is one volume of a larger edition, not Schubert’s complete song output. It offers a substantial collection within a single paperback score. The exact song count and full contents have not been independently checked.
Edition and Publication Details
The pale green ornamental cover carries the Edition Peters emblem and catalogue number 178c. Large black “Schubert” lettering sits above the volume and voice designation. A small handwritten notation appears near the lower-right cover area.
The title page reads “Lieder für eine Singstimme mit Klavierbegleitung”. It also states “nach den ersten Drucken revidiert von Max Friedlaender”. This wording identifies the revision described within the book itself.
The publisher imprint names C. F. Peters, Frankfurt, with New York and London also listed. These publication locations do not establish the country where this particular copy was printed. No manufacturing country is assigned.
A Vintage Working Score
The copy is described as a twentieth-century printing. Its precise publication year has not been established from the supplied photographs. Paper colour and cover design alone are not used to assign a narrower date.
The cream-toned pages and compact format give the book a traditional printed-score character. At approximately 19 × 27 cm, it is suitable for a music-book collection or study library. The photographed notation remains clearly legible.
Condition
Good overall used condition, with visible cover rubbing, edge wear, and bent corners. Small nicks and fraying appear along the lower cover edge. The spine base shows wear and a slight opening.
The rear cover has marks and creasing near the lower corner. Interior pages show age toning and some corner folds. The photographed musical text is readable, but every page has not been individually inspected.
The volume is reported complete at 239 pages, with no missing pages or interior tears reported. This has not been independently collated. Handle the worn binding with care when opening the score.
