About This Rug
This antique Caucasian Shirvan wool rug features an ivory field filled with repeating geometric rosettes and finely drawn connecting lines. Dating to circa 1900, it combines a restrained palette with a densely organised all-over design.

An Orderly Geometric Field
Rows of stepped rosettes alternate with angular, cross-shaped ornaments across the centre. Fine dark outlines link the motifs into a delicate lattice, giving the composition a clear underlying structure.
Small diamond details and short coloured bars occupy the spaces between the larger forms. These quieter elements introduce variation without interrupting the repeated arrangement.
There is no dominant central medallion. Instead, the eye moves between individual motifs, noticing changes in colour and small differences in the geometric drawing.
Ivory and Muted Colour
