About This Figurine
This vintage Chinese resin figurine depicts Shoulao, the God of Longevity, with a domed forehead and long flowing beard. A tall, gnarled staff rises beside him, while his other hand cradles a peach.
Dating to the mid-to-late 20th century, the figure measures approximately 10 cm tall. Its warm red-brown and terracotta finish contrasts with black detailing in the folds, beard and ornamental base.
An Expressive Elder
The face combines a furrowed brow, prominent cheeks and a slightly open mouth beneath a curved moustache. Fine grooves run through the long beard, giving it a textured appearance.
The smooth dome of the forehead contrasts with the closely detailed face below. A small hair bun and incised strands are visible in the rear view.
Broad sleeves gather around the hands and fall into long folds. These rounded forms soften the upright silhouette and draw attention toward the peach held close to the body.
Staff, Peach and Sculpted Base
One hand grips the tall staff near shoulder height. Its irregular top curves above the figure’s head, creating an open space between the staff and forehead.
The peach forms a rounded accent against the darker robe folds. Together with the elderly figure, it establishes the subject’s longevity theme.
A circular base carries scrolling, cloud-like and rocky relief. Its dark recesses echo the outlines of the clothing and provide a decorative foundation for the figure.
Warm Lacquer-Effect Colour
Red and terracotta tones are strongest across the back, base and staff. Warmer brown highlights appear over the forehead, face and sleeves.
Black antiquing emphasises the recessed details and separates the folds of the robe. The finish creates a lacquer-like appearance on resin; the figurine is not carved wood or genuine cinnabar lacquer.
Identification and Display
Shoulao represents longevity within the Sanxing grouping of Fu, Lu and Shou. This listing includes one Shoulao figurine only, not a complete three-figure set.
A handwritten paper label reading “Long Life” is attached underneath. It identifies the subject but does not establish a maker or ownership history.
Condition
Good to very good vintage condition, with the staff, hands and main decorative elements present. Small pale surface marks and localised finish wear are visible on the sleeve and around the base.
Please review the front, side, rear and underside photographs for surface details and edge condition.
