Astérix: Le Combat des chefs
This vintage French hardcover presents Le Combat des chefs, an Astérix adventure with text by René Goscinny and drawings by Albert Uderzo. Published by Dargaud, the album combines full-colour comic panels with French dialogue. Its illustrated cover features Astérix, Obélix and the familiar village characters.
The large-format book measures approximately 30 × 23 × 1 cm. Bold black and red lettering fills the upper cover above a colourful scene with a blue sky. A red Dargaud panel appears near the lower corner.
Full-Colour French Bande Dessinée
The interior uses expressive character drawings, varied panel sizes and speech balloons to carry the story. Yellow narrative boxes punctuate the illustrated sequences. Scenes of village life and encounters with Roman characters appear throughout the pages.
The preliminary material includes an illustrated map of Gaul and the Quelques Gaulois character introduction. Astérix and Obélix appear alongside other members of the village. These pages combine portraits with short French character descriptions.
The rear cover shows Astérix and Obélix beneath a large menhir carrying a printed list of album titles. Its white background contrasts with the colourful front board. The title page repeats the work’s name and clearly identifies the writer, artist and publisher.
A Worn Reading Copy
This copy has significant binding damage and must be handled carefully. Several leaves are loose or detached, including preliminary and illustrated comic pages. The inner hinge and lower spine show separation with exposed binding material.
The hardcover boards remain present, with rubbing, bumped corners and wear along the edges and spine. Light age toning is visible around the paper and boards. A small handwritten number appears near the upper corner of the title page.
The full-colour artwork remains vivid and the printed dialogue legible. The album contains 48 pages, with the content complete. It is offered as a reading or restoration copy rather than a copy with a sound binding.
