Its flowing robes, tall headwear and rounded ornamental base create a compact, upright composition.

The figure measures approximately 10 cm tall, with a base footprint of around 4 × 4 cm. Warm amber-brown highlights contrast with red surfaces and darkened recesses throughout the piece.

An Elder and Child Composition

The elder’s face has arched brows, a moustache and a long beard marked with fine vertical grooves. His broad sleeves gather into deep folds across the front.

A small child sits high against one shoulder, with a rounded face and folded clothing. The close placement of the two figures gives the sculpture a unified silhouette.

The taller figure’s headwear includes a raised band and side projections. These details remain visible from the front and side, adding interest beyond the main facial features.

Red and Amber Finish

The supplied material is resin, finished to suggest the appearance of red lacquer. This piece is not offered as carved cinnabar, natural amber or genuine lacquer.

Amber-brown colouring is strongest across the face and front folds. The back and opposite side show deeper red areas, outlined by black detailing.

Dark pigment collects visually within the beard, sleeve folds and base ornament. The contrast emphasises the relief and gives the surface an antiqued appearance.

Subject and Identification

Fu Xing is identified in the supplied description as the figure associated with luck and good fortune within the Sanxing trio. A handwritten paper label reading “Luck” is attached underneath.

That label serves as an identification aid rather than a maker’s mark or proof of age. This listing includes one figurine only, not a three-figure set.

Origin and Period

China is the supplied country of origin, and the piece is attributed broadly to the 20th century. No specific workshop, maker or exact production date is established.

The underside is flat, with visible surface lines and small indentations. A photograph of the base is included for reference.

Condition

Good overall condition is reported, with the principal details clearly defined. The photographs show small pale surface marks and localised finish wear, particularly on projecting areas and near the base.

Please review the close-ups for colour variation, surface specks and edge wear. The finish should not be described as uniformly pristine.

Key Details

Subject: Fu Xing
Object: Decorative figurine of an elder holding a child
Origin: China,
Period: 20th century
Material: Resin
Finish: Red and amber-brown colouring with black antiquing
Dimensions: Approximately 10 × 4 × 4 cm
Base: Handwritten paper label reading “Luck”
Quantity: One figurine
Condition: Good overall; small surface marks and localised finish wear
SKU: 2C138

Why It’s Special

The close-knit elder-and-child composition gives this small figure an engaging character.
